American Civil War Participation game - GVS August Meeting

Postby Clint » Thu Jul 17, 2014 6:51 pm

Hi All

I am thinking of organising an ACW participation game at the August GVS meeting. It will be a combined arms land and naval battle using the computer moderated wargame rule set "Rally Once More!". I can supply the figures and models.

I will work out a scenario and publish it here shortly. Then you can nominate which commands you want to have.

Hi All,

I will be hosting an American Civil War participation game at the August meeting of the GVS in Goulburn. All are welcome to come along and play. Below is a description of the game. There will be commands for infantry, cavalry and naval forces. Take your pick.

Computer Strategies - Computer Moderated War-games.

This will be a demonstration of a computer moderated war-game where a war-game app running on a Tablet will replace the need for paper rules to guide the table top players. This will be a ‘combined arms’ (i.e. land and naval) battle loosely based on the battle of Mobile Bay during the American Civil War.

A Union naval force has embarked bodies of infantry on steam sloops escorted by single and double turret Monitors. Their objective is to run past a Confederate water battery and land the troops behind the fort where they can attack the fortifications from the rear. While passing the water battery they will try to inflict as much damage as possible on the battery and its garrison to soften it up for the final attack.

The Confederates have a few surprises up their sleeve however and the approach will not be as simple as the Federal forces think.

Players can take either side. All figures and ship models will be supplied.

It would be good if you give me some advance notice by emailing me at
